Welcome to Learning Blind Tech
My name is Desiree Simeone. I have been totally blind for more than
30 years. I am passionate about assistive technologies, and I love
teaching people how to improve their lives by using them. The biggest
reason I started Learning Blind Tech is that I strongly believe those of
us who are blind learn best from blind instructors.
My Qualifications
- I am certified in both JAWS and NVDA.
- I have experience with several braille displays including: the
Braille Sense; Mantis; and the Humanware line of braille displays. - I have been an iPhone user since 2009, and I am very comfortable
teaching how to use it. - Since 2017, I have been testing products for usability on all
possible combinations of operating systems, screen readers, braille

Signing up for Training
If you’re interested in training, here are a few things you should
know:
- All trainings (unless you live in the area of Portland, Oregon) will
be conducted virtually over the Zoom platform. - If you need assistance getting set up on Zoom, I can help with
that. - You do not need a case with your rehabilitation agency to hire me
for training. - If you don’t have a case with a rehabilitation agency, I charge $35
an hour. - If you have a case with a rehab agency, I charge $75 an hour.
- If you are interested in scheduling training, contact me to set up
an appointment. - If you are paying for training yourself, you will be asked to pay as
you schedule the training. - If you are with a rehabilitation agency, Simeone Consultancy can
send an invoice or discuss other payment options with you. - Simeone Consultancy is interested in signing contracts with
rehabilitation agencies.
